A Scanner Darkly

My latest studio venture was to illustrate "A Scanner Darkly" by Philip K. Dick. It's a story about an undercover cop who ends up observing himself without realizing it. His consciousness splits in half because of his drug use.

This is 15" at f/11 Fujichrome 4x5. I like the way it turned out. I could have croppped it square to lose the blank area at top right, or put something else in the background. Wood paneling might be good.

studio craft

vintage

Yesterday I used the Calumet monorail 4x5 to shoot a tabletop still life. I have not had a lot of studio work experience, but I like the way this turned out and am excited to learn more. 1/2 second at f/22, Type 55. One hot light, above left.
This can help me to improve my backyard portraits series.
