I got a Wacom tablet for my birthday last week. That will make this new stuff MUCH easier to do. I have to re-learn how to draw with a pen since I've been using a mouse for so long.

At the Portraiture and Presence opening at Gallery RFD in Swainsboro. The gallery directors are really doing a great job down there, and I'm not just saying that because I won!

I spent the last couple of weeks getting my winning portrait ready to send to the gallery. On Monday, I sent it framed, wrapped in ten layers of bubble wrap and hermetically sealed in cardboard and packing tape, the package liberally sprinkled with "FRAGILE" warning stickers and "GLASS" in fat black marker. I figured an overnight delivery would be safer since fewer people would be handling it and it would pass through the system quickly.
Maybe it was safer than normal, but FedEx managed to break the glass and scratch the print. Never underestimate the inevitability of incompetence.
Lucky for me, the gallery is friendly and is holding a wall spot for me.
Lucky for me, I have a digital file and can reprint, rematte, and reframe.
The opening is at 5 on Saturday. I'll be delivering the print myself. I will not break it.
